Welcome to Wharton's Summer Public Interest Fund

The Summer Public Interest Fund (SPIF) enables first-year Wharton MBA students to pursue summer internships in the public sector by supplementing basic salary needs. The fund is financed by first-year students who donate funds to support of their fellow classmates.

Fund recipients' summer compensation must not exceed $1,000 per week, including funding from alternative sources. Donations are tax-deductible and allow Wharton MBA students to help those who need it most.

Additional Information
"The SPIF grant enabled me to accept an internship at a nonprofit organization (the Microfinance Information eXchange) that could only afford to pay me a modest stipend. SPIF was an extremely important part of my Wharton experience because it helped me follow my passion: to develop market-oriented solutions to poverty. But even more important than the financial support was the moral support I felt knowing that the funds had come from the generous contributions of my classmates."
