Welcome to Wharton's Summer Public Interest Fund

The Summer Public Interest Fund (SPIF) supports first-year Wharton MBA students pursuing internships in the public and social sectors. Founded by students in 1998, SPIF is the biggest annual fundraiser among Wharton first-years.

For the third year in a row, the Wharton Program for Social Impact will generously support SPIF with a $30,000 challenge grant, matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $30,000.

  • "I worked in Nigeria for the Clinton Foundation’s HIV/AIDS initiative. My summer activities were focused on increasing the number of HIV+ children on treatment. It included conducting site evaluations for clinics around the country that perform testing and counseling, improving drug and test-kit forecasting models, identifying weaknesses in the nationwide testing and treatment network, and working with hospitals to implement a program that tests every admitted child for HIV."
